On October 15, 2020, the leading researcher of the Bioinformatics Laboratory, Ph.D. in Biology Nurmammadov turns 55.

Nurmammad Shamil Mustafayev graduated with an honors diploma from the Faculty of Chemistry of Baku State University in 1991. Since 1991 he has been working in the department of molecular-genetic bases of productivity processes at the Institute of Botany of ANAS, as a junior researcher, researcher, senior researcher, and since 2016 he has been working as a leading researcher at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of ANAS. Biologist-scientist is a skillful specialist in the field of plant and animal genetics. He studied some minisatellites of human and arabidopsis, showed the richness of these sequences with numerous potential transcription and replication regulatory elements, and for the first time studied the Azerbaijani population with STR markers. Nurmammad Mustafayev is one of the creators of the PlantProm database (http://www.softberry.com) of plant gene promoters transcribed by RNA polymerase II in 2003-2008. N.Mustafayev is the author of more than 30 scientific works. His scientific results were published in international journals such as “Химия природных соединений”, “Растительные ресурсы”, “Chemistry of Natural Compounds”, “Medicine and Law”, “Net Journal of Agricultural Science”, “Photosynthetica”, “Gene”, and were presented in several local and international conferences. He is also a member of the Seminar Council of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of ANAS, executive secretary of the "Journal of Life Sciences and Biomedicine" published by ANAS and the journal of scientific works of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology.

N.Mustafayev is also engaged in the pedagogical activity, teaches specialty subjects to students studying for a master's degree at the Institute.
