The first meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies was held in an online format on January 25. The Director of the institute, members of the council, heads of departments, and laboratories participated in the meeting.

Chairman of the Scientific Council, director of the institute academician Irada Huseynova opened the meeting and congratulated the participants on the beginning of the new calendar year and wished them success. I. Huseynova said that the Azerbaijani government is taking necessary measures to prevent the threats posed by the global coronavirus pandemic, organize social protection and ensure economic activity. According to the Order of the President of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev "On the regulation of attendance of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences during the special quarantine regime" dated January 18, 2021, employees of the Institute were employed on a rotating basis.

Academician I.Huseynova noted that the agenda of the first meeting included the discussion of research plans of the institute for 2021 and other important issues. Speaking about the plans to do in 2021, I.Huseynova said that the project was made taking into account development trends of modern world science and scientific and technological problems about social-economic development in our country. It is planned to conduct research on 6 topics in 3 areas and 3 problems. Scientific directions and plan projects were widely discussed. During the discussions, the heads of laboratories of the institute - corresponding members of ANAS N.Guliyev, I.Azizov, I.Shahmuradov, doctors of biological sciences Yashar Feyziyev, Sh. Bayramov, H.Babayev, and others took part and made speeches and expressed their proposals. As a result of the discussions, the research plan of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies for 2021 was approved by the decision of the Scientific Council. Then other issues on the agenda, including changing the name and scientific direction of one of the laboratories, scientific seminars, etc. The issues were discussed and relevant decisions were made.
