On March 31, a commemorative event on the occasion of March 31 - Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies. First, the event participants commemorated the victims of the genocide with a minute of silence. Opening the event, the director of the institute, academician Irada Huseynova spoke about the massacres and disasters committed as a result of the land claims of the Armenian-Dashnaks and their supporters against our people for more than two hundred years. She noted that as a result of the genocide against Azerbaijanis by Baku Soviet troops and Dashnak Armenian armed groups in Baku and various regions of Baku province, as well as in Karabakh, Nakhchivan, Shamakhi, Guba, Khachmaz, Lankaran, Salyan, Zangazur, and other areas on March 30-April 3, 1918, tens of thousands of our compatriots were killed precisely because of their ethnic and religious affiliation, and settlements, historical monuments, mosques, and cemeteries were destroyed. One of the goals of the policy of genocide pursued by the Armenian Dashnaks against our people and the Turkic world was to create a "Great Armenia" state at the expense of the occupied Turkic lands. The decree "On the genocide of Azerbaijanis" signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev on March 26, 1998, gave an adequate political assessment to these terrible events and declared March 31 "Day of the Genocide of Azerbaijanis."

Speaking at the event, correspondent member of ANAS Ibrahim Azizov, chairman of the Trade Union Hasan Babayev, Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs Alamdar Mammadov,  Specialist of the Education Department Ganfila Bayramova, Ph.D., Associate Professor Nurmammad Mustafayev, and others stressed the importance of forming a strong national memory of the policy of genocide in the present and future generations, and they said that we must always protect the national unity of the Azerbaijani people, as we demonstrated to the world in the 44-day war, so that such cases do not happen again.

At the end of the event, a film depicting Armenian vandalism during the March 31 events was shown.
