On November 1, the pre-defense discussion of the dissertation entitled “Light-induced proteome and metabolome changes in cereals” presented by Aynura Pashayeva, a researcher at the International Proteomics Laboratory, for a Ph.D. degree in the specialty 2415.01– “Molecular biology”, was held. The dissertation was supervised by Ismayil Zulfugarov, Head of International Proteomics Laboratory of the institute, research professor of Pusan National University, South Korea. The results of the research of A.Pashayeva were published in local and foreign journals, heard and discussed at a number of local and international conferences. The young research fellow was awarded certificates and diplomas. For the first time in the dissertation, the light-induced changes of pigment-protein complexes, adaptation to darkness, and comparative kinetics of induction and relaxation of non-photochemical extinction after exposure to light were studied in local soft wheat varieties. The location of the PsbS protein of FS2 was determined using a fraction of the thylakoid membrane rich in FS2 in the rice plant. The results of the dissertation can be used to increase the productivity of photosynthesis for a global solution to future problems in food and bioenergy production. Reviewers, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Ramiz Aliyev, Professor Dr. Jeon Jong-Seong noted that the dissertation work was performed at a high level and met international requirements. Extensive discussions were held on the dissertation topic. Along with the scientific staff of the institute, scientists of Baku State University, Institute of Genetic Resources, and Institute of Botany of ANAS and took part in the discussion. Academician Irada Huseynova, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Rovshan Khalilov, Doctors of Biological Sciences Shahniyar Bayramov, Nagy Musayev, Saftar Suleymanov, Yashar Feyziyev, Doctors of Philosophy in Biology Alamdar Mammadov, Hamlet Sadigov, and Maya Khanishova expressed their views on the dissertation. At the end of the discussion, it was recommended that Aynura Pashayeva's dissertation be discussed at the Seminar Council.
