An event dedicated to Science Day was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of the Ministry of Science and Education. Academician Irada Huseynova, the Director General of the institute, who opened the event with an introductory speech, emphasized that the science of Azerbaijan, with its ancient history and great traditions, has become the driving force of the comprehensive development of our country today. She noted that March 27, the Day of Science established in Azerbaijan by the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated April 9, 2018, also coincides with the date of the establishment of the academy. The establishment of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences is an honorable event in the scientific history of our country. The Academy of Sciences played an important role in all subsequent stages of the development of Azerbaijani society.

The important role played by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in strengthening the scientific and technical potential, in the training of highly qualified scientific personnel in the most modern and promising fields, and in the protection and promotion of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan during all periods of his leadership in Azerbaijan must be constantly remembered.

The addition of the word "National" to the name of the Academy of Sciences by the Great Leader's Decree dated May 15, 2001, should be considered a significant event.

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, who has successfully pursued the science policy of the National Leader, emphasizes the role of science in the socio-economic, cultural, and spiritual formation of Azerbaijan, its influence on the country's social and political life, and the fact that academic science is the guarantor of the progress of the sovereign state of Azerbaijan, has repeatedly stated that the future of the nation is precisely related to science and education and modern state building is impossible without the development of science. Currently, the study of the achievements of world science and their application in our country, the preparation of joint research projects with the leading scientific centers of the world, the education of young researchers at the master's and doctorate level in prestigious universities of foreign countries are the priority directions for the integration of Azerbaijan into the world science space. We believe that the development of science will contribute to Azerbaijan's further strengthening, progress, and recognition on a world scale and ensuring its rightful place. Academician Irada Huseynova congratulated the event participants on the occasion of Science Day and wished them success in their scientific activities.

Correspondent members of ANAS Ibrahim Azizov, Novruz Guliyev, Doctors of Biological Sciences Suleyman Saftarov, Yashar Feyziyev, doctors of philosophy in biology Ulkar Ibrahimova, Nargiz Sultanova, Samra Mirzayeva, Nargiz Bayramova and others spoke about the responsibility of a scientist, emphasizing the need to devote oneself to science with one’s whole being.

In the event, considering long-term effective scientific activities, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Safter Suleymanov, PhD, associate Professor Alamdar Mammadov, PhD Zarifa Süleymanova were awarded the honorary certificates of IMBB. PhD Mahira Mammadova and PhD Nurmammad Mustafayev were presented with certificates of appreciation of the institute.

At the end of the event, a film dedicated to Science Day was demonstrated.
