On 18 March, a scientific seminar on the occasion of the Science Day was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies. Employees of the institutes of the Division of Biological and Medical sciences participated in the seminar.

Initially, correspondent member of ANAS, head of Bioinformatics laboratory Ilham Shahmuradov gave a report on “Integrative biology and bioinformatics”. I. Shahmuradov is one of the great scientists representing our country abroad. His activity in the United Kingdom, Japan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia,  and other countries’ leading scientific centers is a clear example of this.

Then leading researcher of the Bioadaptation laboratory, leading researcher Gulnara Balakishiyeva gave a report on “Epidemiology and genetic diversity of phytoplasmas in Azerbaijan”. For the first time in Azerbaijan, phytoplasmic diseases have been studied at a molecular level by the former Ph.D. student of Bordeaux University, Gulnara Balakishiyeva.

Both reports were met with interest by seminar participants and discussions were held.
