Researcher at the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, PhD in Biology Gunay Ismayilova, participated in the 4th International Barley Mutant Workshop, held in Lund, Sweden, from 20 to 22 July 2026.

The event was organized across three major scientific venues: Lund University, the Alnarp Campus of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), and the Lantmännen Agro Research Center located in the Svalöv region. Dedicated to current challenges in cereal genetics and plant biotechnology, the international workshop brought together leading scientists and experts working in these fields. The comprehensive scientific program featured sessions on genomics, gene-editing technologies, and mutation libraries, where the latest scientific advances were presented and discussed. Participants also visited the NordGen gene bank, which conserves valuable genetic resources and seed collections of great importance for future plant breeding programs.

During the workshop, Gunay Ismayilova delivered a presentation entitled "Stimulation of the Adaptive and Morphogenetic Potential of Callus Tissue In Vitro Using a Multicomponent Agaroponic System Based on the Gradient vs. Gradient' Principle."

Participation in this international scientific event contributed to the study of advanced approaches in plant biotechnology and breeding, the expansion of international scientific cooperation, and the identification of promising directions for future research.
