In recent days, coronavirus infection has become the main topic of discussion in social networks and the press. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan has taken a number of serious decisions with the aim of preventing the danger that this disease can cause in Azerbaijan, carrying out preventive and urgent measures. Also, the president of ANAS academician Ramiz Mehdiyev signed an order “On preventive measures in connection with the coronavirus in ANAS”.

The development of the coronavirus pandemic as a terrible disease for the world's population, as well as the threat of spread in our country, has brought to the fore the need to conduct serious research and take appropriate measures.

According to the relevant order of academician Ramiz Mehdiyev, experts of the Division of Biological and Medical Sciences of ANAS were instructed to organize media appearances on methods of protection against coronavirus, as well as the publication of educational materials on this subject.

To this end, the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of ANAS is conducting scientific and educational work on methods of protection against infection with coronavirus infection, as well as studies to reduce the incidence of the virus through preventive measures.

Institute staff are studying vaccines used for protection against various bacterial and viral diseases, their types and development procedures. Tests for the diagnosis of coronavirus, methods for monitoring the progression of the disease, and serological diagnostic whales that detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus in a large number of samples in a short period of time are also being studied.

Note that, disinfection is currently being carried out in the administrative buildings of ANAS. To increase public awareness, scientists and specialists of the Division of Biological and Medical Sciences regularly appear in the press, on television, and in social networks.
